It's all blossoming

The blossoms are beginning to show now in the wood, this tree has a vivid pink blossom which when out in full bloom and looks stunning against the blue spring sky.

The newly planted trees are all coming into bud, although they mostly look like canes dotted around the field.

The old horse chestnut tree is coming into bud too.

I have added some new guttering to the black shed for the water butt, and after the first rain since going up I am pleased to say it's working well.

The building work has slowly started to pick up now the weathers getting warmer having the second row of bottles built over the car door lintel. Also the little flower bed near the door is completed with bulbs all planted. The face near the door which will become the guardian of the build has a crystal added for its third eye, and is now being build up towards the iron rod which will be a hanging basket hook. It is a lovely sunny day and I might be taking a new photograph for the shop..I'll keep you posted.

Witch in a bottle

Today I build in "the witch in a bottle" into the build. I made this little witch to hang in my kitchen, but she seems to be much happier outside with her crystals charging in the sunlight. As it happens it's Friday the 13 Th  as well...happy coincidence.

She has a stone with a hole, leaves, mirrors and a rupee among other things attached to her.
I also cut the grass for the first time this year, so the wood is really looking good. Enjoy this sunshine :)

Shop review

Today I received my first Etsyland review in my little shop-
  • The January Hare-A6 postcard

The card came in a hard backed envelope which was a nice touch and it was delivered swiftly. It's a lovely piece of art work, it's colours bring about a rich warn look and feel and I was meant to send it to someone who loves hares but I decided to keep it for myself and it is now stuck on my wall above my desk. It's a great addition to the other bits of artwork I have. Love it !

Little red window

Well the building work on the bottle brick composting loo has re started, and for the first build this year I have added the little red window. It went in a lot easier than I had imagined.
The trees painted on the inside match the vintage fabric I will be making the curtain from. I also finished off the little dryer drum campfire surround.
It needs a few small stones to be added in between the bricks then it's ready for the tripod chitty to be added and ready for cooking. I also filled in the flower bed and planted comfrey. Also yesterday I re planted another 25 silver birch trees to replace the ones that did not take last winter.

The tin guttering has also gone up and am hoping it will rust with age.
I am hoping the gorse bush and lime trees arrive today, so I can be busy planting again. I feel like we have turned the corner on the cold winter months and spring has finally arrived, even the bluebells are starting to show. Enjoy!

Bottle brick flower bed

Yesterday I decided to make a little flower bed in the corner near the path. I made it from old bottles, similar the the herb garden. It's only two bottles high but it is big enough for what I need it for. Once it's dried I will fill it with compost and plant it.

The vegetable boxes are now planted, this year I'll be trying to grow raspberries, strawberries, apples, pears, carrots, runner and dwarf beans, kohl rabi, radishes, aubergines, rainbow beetroot and celeriac.i also have cress, sprouting trays and spinach beet in the greenhouse. In my herb garden there's thyme, ransoms, rosemary, sage, coriander, tarragon, oregano, lemon balm, bay leaves and chives. My medicinal and edible plants include st.johns wort, fever few, lavender, wormwood, goji, lime, comfrey, gorse and roses. It's quite a big attempt as I am not really very good and gardening, but if you don't try you'll never succeed.
I had a little bit of mortar left over so started to build up the sides of the little campfire, although it's not quite finished.

A much needed colour injection

The wood is looking a bit dull as if it's not ready to come out of the the long winters hibernation, so I've added a few flowers to inject some colours of spring. The snowdrops have been a little slow to appear but we have a small covering now, although we only had fifteen aconites.

Then along the willow path I've planted some wild primroses, and the odd cowslip on the other side. The sun has come out today and the winds dropping. The grounds even started to dry up too near the build.
